I think you're nuts using 1" pipe for a roll over bar. It's 1 1/2" diameter with 1/8" thick walls, it was old compressed air line piping from a factory. Where I run we rarely ever have rollovers so I wasn't too worried about the halo plus I was using what I had on hand to build with since it was my first ever derby

But I hate hearing about people get hurt in derbies. So stay safe.

I hear ya man some people just don't care about their safety but I made sure my cage was well built using 1/4" thick square stock and 1/4" thick tubing. I appreciate the concern and you stay safe as well

At our local shows the promoter says roll over bars strengthen the trucks so we can't run them. Took 4 trucks to a show last year and had to cut them all out

I can see if you have a frame mounted cage with halo done right it can strengthen the frame but a floating cage with halo no.

We used to not have to have halo bars until we got a new person running the derby but our show has since gotten bigger thanks to our new official.

Our officials are morons. I asked the same the about safety and told him when someone rolls and gets hurt it's on him
