Can you run a stock rear bumper in the front?

That might be something to look into. Rear bumpers have got to be harder than fronts. Weak in the middle where the license plate goes but have to be better than a front.

I've already listed several great options. Have you looked at any of them? The newer Nissan Xterra bumper reinforcements aren't terrible either. Still better than ANY old truck bumper.

I have not yet. The show is not until may, here in indiana we are getting some lovely single digit temps so I don't think I will be going in the next week either.

dontknowhowtoweld if you're concerned entirely about the payout, you need to reconsider why you're in this sport. Most of us have smashed the hell out of $100 vehicles in the backyard just for fun, and fun we had. The prize money should be the last thing on your mind in a stock show- do it for the fun or find a new sport

First off I don't run stock shows. Second of all it sounds like the promoter is putting must of the entry fee money in his pocket. I don't spend a month building a truck and all the money I put in to it for $150 payout. He'll that wouldn't even cover my fuel cost to get there. Finding $100 vehicles is not very common anymore. But i dont run just whatever i find either. I only will run certain frames. I like to get 2 plus years out of each build. I was like you once and didn't care. But it is nice bringing home some money to pay for the next build...

$300 truck, $25-100 parts/nuts and bolts/random/tires Cage and everything else is reused from vehicle to vehicle $25 entry fee $25 fuel $150 if first place plus scrap at 180 a ton. $360 in scrap plus $150 in winnings = $510. $60+ at the end of the day. Plus EVERYTHING i build has less than 20 hours into it seeing as its all strip, weld cage, weld reared, maybe floor shifter if im actually in a RWD vehicle which is not often, and change bumpers and maybe weld the shocks depending on show. Its not hard to break even in this sport by running junk. Because im ok running aluminum backed GM bumpers on compact cars I can pick them up for less than $40 and vic and 70s bumpers for $60 a piece. This sport is not for making money, but you dont have to blow the bank on it either.

$400 frame $400 body $3000 engine $500 into my trans $200 floater $600 into custom front axle $350 slider driveshaft $200 in reused cage material $200 into homemade front bumper $120 in welding wire $300 in tires $100 in fuel round trip to the closest derby $50 entry fee $750 to win 5 times a year. $3750 I don't want to build a fresh truck for every show. That's why I run weld class. You can keep your stock class. I can run 5-10 shows a year with the same truck for 2-5+ years.

Still better than ANY old truck bumper. didn't truck manufactures offer different rear bumpers made for heavy duyy and towing vehicles? I seen a older f-series wrecker with a huge rear bumper with FORD stamped in it.led me to believe it was a stock bumper.this cold be a grey area in your rules.and those are always fun.

I think you are trying too hard. You're more worried about the prize money. If you're worried about it, then don't run the show. Plain and simple. Stick to what you already run or you won't be happy. Stock builds are not meant to be ran 10 times a year. Couple good runs is about all you're gonna get. And by the way those rules sound, that show definitely isn't worth your time.
