Im building several mini trucks for the local stock shows next year and was wondering what peoples experiences were with different truck bumpers. Show is bone stock and bumper must have come from a truck/SUV. Didn't know which would be best. Already know that 80s blazer/S10 bumpers fold like tin. Trying to see what actually works.

All truck bumpers are junk. They are nothing like 70s gm cars.

I am very aware of that. But seeing as any sort of 70s bumper would cost more than the prize money for this show im talking truck bumpers here.

Toyota Sequoia or Toyota Tundra bumper reinforcments that come with a rubber bumper cover are decent bumpers. Late model Chevy truck and SUV bumper reinforcments that came with rubber bumper covers are nice too. Im not sure if this fits your rules. Just thinking outside of the box here. That's what I do...

So do these bumper options fit your rules?

Yes Stromi, thank you. Your answer was much better than "run square tubing or 70s GM bumper"... I obvously know that those would be better options but if people read the post I stated that a 70s bumper would cost more than I would even win in this class, and that it was bone stock.

So, Im confused. Is square tubing legal with your rules? its always the cheapest route. I thought you said it had to be a stock type truck bumper?

Square tubing would be illegal for this show. And the layout is generally between 75-150$ for this class. Local show has 5 classes so none pay out big

You say a bumper cost more than the payout. Who would waste there time building a truck for that payout? Everything you need to derby cost more than that payout.

This class isnt about building. It is literally move tank and battery and go. There is no building. This sport is supposed to be about fun and junking a car in 1 run not building something that you use all season. It is BONE STOCK. I WILL NOT BE PUTTING A 70S BUMPER ON THIS TRUCK FOR THE LAST TIME. LOL, I didn't try to start an argument here I was just asking an opinion on truck bumpers as I can get them nearly free. I am not trying to make money with this, just supporting the local fair.
