351 Modified is a small block, 351 Cleveland is a big block. 351 Modified is definitely a big block, its a destroked 400. Fords really have 3 classes in my opinion, the 302, 351w and 351c are small blocks, the 351m and 400 are actually based from the 351c with a long stroke block, so the better term is prolly tall block, and the true big blocks are the 427 and 460.

302, 351w are small blocks of the Windsor family. The 351c,351m,400 are small blocks of the ford 335 family of engines. 351c and 351w are two completely different engines but all of these engines are considered small blocks by ford. The 400 which was actually 402 ci 6.6 liters was the largest small block ford produced. A lot of people get confused by the 400 and 351m's because they both use the big block bell housing pattern. There was a couple years that some 400's had both patterns they were called 400 fmx blocks. This is all very confusing and all the more reason to run Chevys lol

Yes dog house is same as front clip.
I've been to Mayhem and if I ever go back I'll bring a good book and sell race fuel to the drivers. For a good time go to the Bash for Cash!

Depends, front clip to some is firewall forward frame stub. Never heard it called a front clip until wecrash and fb took over. A front clip was the fenders, core support, and hood or was known as a doghouse. And a front stub, front sub, or frame clip was the frame section cut off or unbolted just in front of trans crossmember. It all depends on where you are from and what slang is accepted there.

Guess it's a regional thing. We always called the fender, core support and hood a doghouse. Front clip was always the front frame section. I have heard the frame b called a stub too. But if we were reclipping a car it meant it was getting a new front frame section

Frame squaring- taking the soft rounded corners of the frame and beating them into hard square edges .

It did't add all the engine stuff, but I did just update the dictionary! Believe it or not, I didn't forget about this thread. Sorry it took so long. If anyone has anything to add or wants to know a definition, just post it up. At some point I'll alphabetize it put everything in different lists (parts of car, actions performed to car, car nick names, etc...) BELLY BARS= Steel tubes from trans cross member to either the front feet or to the engine cradle depending on the the car being built. By front feet do you mean front down bars? Or front of the floorboard where your feet are? Didn't see "Dog Legs" on the list. Commonly used term for wagons that means different things depending on area. Could use some definite wording. I have no idea what you're talking about. Can you elaborate?

In my experience, dog legs are the part of the rear quarter panel that are between the back passenger door and the wheel.

To expand upon what Ed said, they in my experience, refer to that area as well as the inner portion of the rear quarter panel to include the area where the fake/faux/missing body mount is, before descending onto the rearend tunnel and back to the wheel well area.
