I dont mind a thread with intelligent debates/opinions on a subject that I dont know much about. I read and try to learn. So far in this thread, I have learned that I need to do more research.

well how about that ?... aug 9th 2014,,, another 1st place win for my son,, 76 caddy,,, 350 chevy,, with a VACUUM ADVANCE how did he WIN I must be doing something wrong,,, AND,, we don't use a cooling system,, AND,, we didn't spend 5000 bucks on a motor,, so,,, how does it go ??.. oh yeah,, put that in your pipe and smoke.. Lenny, got a video online so I can watch that derby and see how it is done? I'm looking at that car, and the car in the background, and am curious about the derby itself. We have to take a look at what really happened here. I never said you couldn't win. I've had engines win when the customer had cylinder 5 and 7 spark plug wires backwards. Carb base gaskets backwards, sucking air, and running hot have still produced wins for customers. Win Mayhem when it was 120 car count, fair inspection, and post inspection, and only have 2 quarts of oil left in the engine? Had that also. Think I would tell a customer to only put two quarts of oil in? Wrong. I certainly wouldn't advise people to do things wrong. If you look back at what I said, Lenny (though you never really want to, you just want to fly off the handle and try to prove I am wrong), I said he was getting some bad info from the thread (he did), and he would be better off to do some cheap tests and learn some himself (he did). He learned something, and can set up his car accordingly, instead of just taking the wrong info provided and causing himself problems. Still can't understand why that method of doing things on here has always been fought against.

You really don't like radiators do ya Jugulator? Congrats on the win, that couldn't have been a JM show right? raditors ?... who needs them,, LOL JM put it on,, but the carlisle car show wanted extra rules,, so its the jm mod rules,, with extra welding and protectors.. the caddy has an engine halo/dist protector,, slider drivshaft,, full cage/gastank protector.. only welding is on the front bumper,, (elite) doors and trunk,, everything else is bolted,,

Is it a 2bbl motorcraft? What did it come off of? A pic would also help.

Then it's probably made by a company called JET carburetors. They usually pulled out the vacuum nipples and plugged them with round head pins. You could probably pull them out and tap in some metal tubes. Look in back down by the throttle plate.

How about under the fuel bowl about in line with the fuel line? There's also the option of hooking it to manifold vacuum like what was discussed above. It's not technically correct but does work, I can explain it to you if you want.

If no holes at all in the main body, then it may have been on a C-60 Chevy of some sort with a small block and a governor base plate. Depending on who built it, there may be some vacuum ports in the baseplate, but I wouldn't waste my time tracing them. If it was converted from that governor base plate to another baseplate, the vacuum ports likely don't line up, or may have been blocked off internally. Like I said, don't chase any vacuum on the carb itself. I don't know the specifics of your engine, so any recommendation of how to hook up or not hook up vacuum advance is silly on my part. But if you are in a hurry and are not familiar with 2G carbs, don't try learning on that one.
