Stock demos too me are fun it's a cheap and unexpensive way for people who want to drive in demolition to drive demolition derbies some people don't have the money to put thousands of dollars in a pro-mod car and run it if you don't have the interest of the younger generation coming up (mid teens- early 20s) to demo then this sports will die quickly

I like the stock stories, and pictures on this thread. stock show set-up, if enforced, seems to be more fun/fair for ALL. The big $ throw into these so-called stock/mod builds is a waste of TIME AND MONEY (imo and what I have seen).

Very first car, 2008 Ran a caddy in 2009, stock though obviously second ford 2010, Lincoln. Whole transmission fell out of the bottom so it was done Have only run fullsize GM and Mopar since then. Still run plenty of ford in midsize and mini classes. And to add my two cents to the stock argument. Anything but stock is not for the fans. Some people claim that the crowd wants to hear the high horsepower motors and only cares about the big cars. I feel that you are sadly out of touch with reality. Being that out of almost all my friends I am the only one involved in this sport I can tell you that they all agree watching the mod cars is boring. During a mod show last year i took my buddy who usually only comes and watches me, but we went to the show. 3 heats 20+ minutes each of mod cars bumping into eachother, we spent most of our time on our phones not even watching. When the stock midsize show came on and the 15 cars went nuts and it ended in less than 10 minutes with every car on the field either destroyed or shoved out of the arena the crowd was cheering, my friend and i laughed at how mangled the cars were. THAT is what derbies are supposed to be. It is supposed to be that your car can only make 1-2 runs and then its done. Running a whole year with one car? WOW, ill bet the crowd gets really excited when your car shows up to the 7th derby of the year and the frame is still straight. the crowd wants to see the car go from looking like it came off the road last weekend to a mangled pile of junk in 10 minutes. And maybe that isnt everyone in the crowd, the other mod derby drivers in the audience want to see the welded slow moving show as well. So ill just say that maybe 85% of the audience wants stock type shows. Rant over.

this car won its 1st show,,,, and got shut down at another derby for 3rd place,,, the official said he was afraid of the driver getting killed..we were PISSED,, the official's friend took 1st place.. Does that car and the other one you posted have stock drive shafts? Because I was under the impression that you couldnt bend a car that much without a slider.

As nose goes up driveshaft wants to pull out. As it dumps in front of the humps it pushes in. Set the driveshaft up with that in mind for how you drive and it can bend alot and still move fine.

I would personally like to turn back the clock 15 years before the internet and all these huge builds on cars ruined demo derby. How many guys can remember when the only thing that was welded was the rearend gears? Now because of all the info and tricks out there you have to build the hell out of the cars even for stock derbies or you get smashed out in minutes. I can remember starting on a car at 6am and running it that night. It was a 75 olds, I won and junked it after that 1 derby. Took out my boat tank, battery box, and all the chains and left it at the track. Sadly those days are gone.

Yeah I dont run a slider I usually set it about half way inbetween on the transmission so I can use both ends. I was being kinda sarcastic about it because it seems like everyone think you have to have a slider to be competitive.
