The days of doing the little amount of work to the cars is over. cars cost to much to have to build two or three a year. the sport is dieing, alot has to do with the pay out at alot of the shows, alot of guys are not going to drive three hours in the middle of the week to win 750 if you win. the pay needs to increase and the officals need to use the black flag, it does not matter how they are built. i will admitt i should have been black flagged and i have been for driving like an idoit.

i think wire class brings so many people because you can strip a car out and drop your motor of choice and your rearend of choice in and throw a 4 point cage and halo/rollover bar in and use unlimited wire and go race, you could have 300 to 1000 in your car and have a ton of fun and have the car built in a month or less sometimes just a day or 2 hell the car in my profile pic was my first figure 8 car and wire allows the derby cars to be able to run hell my car didn't have any assend at all all the sheetmetal had to be cut off because it plowed in the derby. wire is just so much more fun and so much easier on the body and wallet

I know guys don't want to drive that far for the money. thats way to save figure 8 we need to local guys back. That how my fair feels if we can't get local guys back racing there will be no racing for us soon enuff well at least for rwd figure 8.

From what I am seeing is thy guys with the plated cars don't want to give them up Witch is understandable they put a ton of work and money in to them. The guys that don't have the time money or just feel like its a wast to put it all in to a figure 8 car want a no weld class or a limited weld class. The real question is who is there more of and the guys with the plated cars will the quit if they can't run there cars any more or will they build new ones. idk what the real answer is just we can't keep going the way we are right now.

Maybe a points system with a championship race at the end of the season.

Maybe a points system with a championship race at the end of the season. Ums does this with bump and runs, and holds his championships at venues that need more cars.

Bay city mi . A.k.a bay county is back to having 7 shows this year . Granted 1/2 of them are bump and runs but still great they are trying to get it back were it was in past years. Last year a few of us brought up them having a Halloween race . And literally in two weeks they set it up just off word of mouth and Facebook and still had 15 full size cars show up . Ended up being a pretty good show

1. it was a good show. 2. Ill apologize for you not getting money on your third place finish however ... I single handily raised each and every damn penny I could in 9 days to even have any pay out! that race was mentioned 13 days before it happened that the drivers just wanted one more race .. when I had the flyer made and was sending it out to everyone I TOLD THEM how much was raised and that bay county was only guaranteeing the sponsorship money and 75% of entry fees in each class so before you knock it saying it wasnt a pretty good show ... remember this... thank you ... on that note this year is alot more organized Bay County Fairgrounds Bay City MI has taken over there own events again no more promoter.... There is no youth heats this year but they do have 7 races this year including there own championship! Trying to get themselves back to were they were before! for those of you that want to voice your opinion they are having a drivers meeting MARCH 23 at 3 P.m. you want the sport to change or want to know n talk about how to save it then SHOW UP and VOICE your opinion... only way it will change Also in August the week of the fair there ... there is a Demolition Derby both Fullsize and compact classes ...

It's alive and well, friend. 28 car, 30 lap asphalt enduro figure 8 race: www.youtube.com/watch?v=U1iUZUmMBqsWhat is hurting and in some cases killing our motor sport is that people are sinking thousands and thousands of dollars into cars that are meant to be destroyed. There IS NO ENTRY LEVEL anymore and it's killing demolition derbies and good old fashioned figure 8's. Who wants to run a derby or F8 for the first time and be utterly destroyed by a field of veteran drivers who have $10,000 cars? Nobody, that's who. That's why car counts are down. ...but, race tracks are saving this sport. Not demo derbies specifically, but demo races. Our events require the cars to be built for safety but not for power. If your car is essentially a tank with a race car motor, you won't be eligible to run. So my advice is to start a revolution in the derby world - cheaper cars and better driving, no more pre-bent solid bricks bumping into each other. It's not fun to watch, and nobody wants to be the new guy.
