First I would like to thank everyone for their input and pics on this thread. I have made a few calls to find out if my local tech officials will allow me to have a master in the passenger compartment and I believe I have convinced them to allow me to do it if I have a fire extinguisher within reach. I have an extinguisher but no bracket to mount it with. What are guys that run with extinguishers using to mount them?

Ducttape them to the dash bar or passenger side pu$$y bar. IDK why your concerned about the master cyl. Theres an 5-10 gal tank of much more flamable stuff sitting right behind you. I have an extinguisher in my car because its required but if I do light on fire the last thing I'm going to do is go for that. Just get the F out and let the fire department do their job. (fun to watch them fall anyhow)

(fun to watch them fall anyhow) well sir, my rules do not allow the gastank or battery inside the passenger compartment. battery has to stay under hood and tank, (m&m boys) can be moved under package tray with a firewall replacing the upper part of the rear seat. so moving the master inside the car is a much bigger deal for me than most. thanks though for your idea.

Didn't mean any disrespect, just didn't know there was a derby in this country left that allowed your fuel cell/gas tank to be anywhere other than the back seat. And battery in passenger floor area. Thought they stoped leaving the batteries under the hood in the 50's. One more question, and I mean this sincerely, do you have to run your fuel lines under your car or can you run them through your passenger compartment?

none taken...it is a little embarrassing when i have to explain my rules set to people. you cant measure how far behind the times the fair board is at my local fair. i usually run gas lines through passenger compartment but last year was told that there may be a change to the rules clarifying where the gas lines had to run. my guess is i will have to run them under the car.

You shouldn't be embarrassed at all to talk about your rules. The promoter should be embarrassed since they don't understand the whole concept of a safe derby. I'm not saying that you have fires or anything every derby, I'm just saying, especially with cars that have fuel cells mounted where a trunk would be, it only takes one nice hit to explode a car. Exactly why the Jeep Cherokees had the recall on safety.

I can't remember which years but P71 crown Vic's had a recall as they could ignite on rear impacts as well.
Is your local derby you drive in a bolt and chain derby or a weld derby? Barclay Wilt
