I personally have no issues with Ford motors for driver purposes. Throw a 347 in your fox body and have some fun. Hell, my grandpa was a Ford man and I inherited his Bronco dune buggy. You better believe when it gets redone it's staying all Ford for him.
For derbies? I'll stay the Chevy guy that I am. I just like stirring the pot and playing devils advocate. What good is a discussion thread without differing opinions?
I will add though, that nobody answered my original question.

Let me ask you how many fords do run in big money shows ? Then ask yourself how many chevys do.It's like playing the lottery the more tickets you have the more the odds are in your favor that your gonna win.

And like I followed my question with, if they're the superb engine then why isn't the majority running them?

I answered your question. because all major shows allow distributor protectors. take away them and you might have a different story. us ford guys have to make are own we cant get on here and choose from 15 different company's that make chevy ones. hopefully this weekend ill bring home ford a big win at blizzard bash

And like I followed my question with, if they're the superb engine then why isn't the majority running them? I'm not saying a SBF is any better than another engine. It just blows my mind when someone ask "who's your engine builder? Then I reply "I build them myself because none of the "big" name builders will build me a SBF!" The reply is always, "holy 5hit that's a FORD" I guess I get some sort of satisfaction knowing that I can do well with a engine most builders/drivers discard because there "junk". But I also feel discredited in some instances....... All I'm saying is if you put the same machine work and or parts in a ford, Chevy, or mopar then 99% of the time you'll end up with the same results. Chevys are thought to be the superior engine because that's the engine that engine builders focus on...... Why is that....... because they are the easiest thing to buy parts for and the cheapest. And really I don't think that's true anymore I can build a SBF pretty cheap in my opinion. Like I said before I'm not looking to get in a pissing match with a Chevy nut and I don't have any scientific or expert knowledge to back that up but after being around and building all types of engines throughout my life that's what I base this off of.

And like I followed my question with, if they're the superb engine then why isn't the majority running them? Because I believe that it's abiltiy for chevys to interchange, therefore it's cheaper for builders and manufacturers of parts to sell the product or have spare parts on hand.In some peoples minds that sort of thing is superior.I'm personally just getting tired of all the chevy guys coming into the ford section making there comments about fords and really just saying silly stuff like just put a chevy it it.It's really a childish type of behavior.I don't go to chevy section and tell u guys to drop a ford in it.Ford just so happens to be what I have and what I know about.I like Fords head style as far as ports. And nothing wrong with head bolt setup.Where as chevy I like there timing cover and water pump setup.I like fords front distributor and fuel pump setup. It would be nice to interchange but it's not make it or break it deal for me. I like to say it's who(mechanic) that's under the hood not what(Ford, mopar,Chevy)

I have 2 351w and I love them the one has 3 win out of 5 runs and the motor has never been the problem. And both of them will run hot the one I had in my truck I did and it ran 17 minutes without water and stated right back up when I stood it.

Love my 351W. Mine is a full roller, that I used to run in my pulling tractor. Sounds pretty good out there on the track. If nothing else, I enjoy running it because it stands out, and gets a lot of comments.

If your putting it in a vick,, you may need the 351 oil pan and pick up..for a vick,, 80s cop cars had them, i don't know if the truck pan will clear in the stock mounts,,

That's why I thought the 302 would be better. Should drop right in. They're a good engine. Unless you want a bit of a challenge, then the 351w is a great engine!
