What fuel are you guys running, and what are the pros and cons to each?
I have a new 10 gallon DEC tank, and figured since it's 10 gallons we could try Alcohol this year. I heard it burned pretty quick, and that's okay with a 10 gallon tank. But is it a bitch to get the Carb to accept Alcohol? Thanks.
I should also mention that it'd be done on a stock except timing chain 318. And maybe a Olds 350 that is stock. At the moment.

It is VERY expensive to run alky. Special fuel pump, carb and lines. Alky is very corrosive on the lines also. Pro's?? It runs very cool, but once you loose a radiator that don't help. I personally would run a high octane racing fuel and buy a MSD ignition setup with a 6A box. Alot hotter spark and helps with starting if the engine gets hot. But that is me

Or would I have to get it shipped here from a supplier?

I just run pump gas. If it's at a higher altitude, I'll run a bottle of 104+.

And there's And Steve, that's what we're running right now, just gas from the station. Seems to work, but I want something that'll be cooler.

Yeah alky is half the price and takes twice as much.......Hmmmmmmmmm Fuel pump for gas is $75 for a good one. Alky pump $150-$200, how about an alky carb? ? Yeah, I would def go with alky NOT

Not to mention the burning eye sensation you get if your headers are not tall enough when running alky

Thye biggest cost for alky is the carb after that its the same, think what you want alky is not much different than gas I run alky mostly and gas occassionally. Alky doesnt burn twice as fast but it does take more to make the engine run properly. I would bet that if your derbies only last 30 -45 minutes more people run alky then you think. At a derb y this year I know a guy was running alky 10 gallon tank and a guy run a 7.5 gallon tank with gas the guy running gas ran out of fuel before the guy running alky. There are other variables also just dont make up your mind by what people say, do some research and use what works best for you not what someone says you need.

I was leaning towards Alky, but the cost is what has me shying away from it. The heats are maybe a half hour at most and features would be 45 minutes to an hour. Do they make special Alky carbs? Or is it cheaper to do your own rebuild? Someone told me you need to know what you're daoing to get a carb to take Alky. I'd just take it to someone if that's the case.
