this may be a dumb question, but I never ran a points distributor, is the push button wiring set up the same as it would be for an HEI distributor?

been thinking of reworking my switch panel this year and was just curious what others are doing. Where are you mounting them? What did you use to mount the switches and gauges? What switches, gauges, etc. do you incorporate??

I mount my power to the dizzy fuel pump and starter right by my seat on the floor on the right side and I mount my fans and altinator on my dash bar I just use a piece of flatbar like three inches wide and how ever long you need it with holes drilled in I cant remember what switches I use but there are extra big and have a nice clunk to them when you flip them

I took a 8 inch long piece of 2 inch wide flat steel and bent it so that it was 3 inches long, and bent down 5 inches or so. Then drilled holes, put heavy duty switches in and mounted it to my dash bar. I like mine up higher so that Im not taking a hit while im looking/bending down to try and start my car. I can look around and see someone coming if I get hit while trying to start my car. Simple is sometimes better. No need to buy a fancy switch panel.

Is that one of those brand new high tech high dollar battery hold downs. ;D

Yea. Best hold down you can buy!!! Hahaaahaa. Not my first choice, but worked well. I was worried about the hooks contacting both battery posts at the same time. They didn't this time, but I'm sure it's possible. They won't be used this year.
I made this switch panel, and like it okay. But will probably make some changes this go around. I left the dash in this car since I ran out of time, and my temp sensor lead for my manual gauges wouldn't allow me to mount them on the dash like I wanted. The lead was too short. The dash will be out of my next car, so I should be able to mount a few different ways. I was just wanting to get some ideas on how to set it up.

Who needs gauges? Lol I don't have time to look at gauges.. and I put my switches on the dash bar for the same reason listed above, I don't like to be looking down when I take a hit

Don't have a pic but I used small c channel ran straight up about 10 inches off battery box flat steel welded to that with dizzy fan and starter button all mounted in plate ends up just below dash bar and out of wa. When I switch to next car very easy to just unhook from motor and everything goes right into next car

I use a box like this, only plastic and not as deep. Just cut holes in it and mounted switch and pushbutton for ignition, electric fan switch, and oil pressure and water temp. gauges. Bolted a piece of flat iron to the box and welded bolts to my dash bar so I can bolt the box to my dash bar somewhere above my tranny tunnel. Attachments:

I used a 4 by 4 pvc electrical box with a blank cover and drilled my switches and push button in the cover and made all my connections inside the box and silicone where the wires go into the box then I zip tie it to the right side of my seat so they are nice and close then when I pull my engine I just cut the ties and coil the box and wires up around the air filter so its up and out of the way has worked good for me for quite a few years now
