Big radiator, and build with heat in mind larger clearances, also possibly an oil cooler, my 466 loves heat

You usually dont keep them cool no matter what. But mine the harder and hotter its ran the better it runs. Mine hasnt let me down yet. I run it with msd ignition some say that has alot to do with keeping it running when its hot.

flush the block with clr, clean the outside of the block, big hood holes, ice bath fuel line, header insulation, remove flywheel cover, carb spacer, good tranny cooler, make a rubber shroud and big nylon fan, gear reduction starter

You could flush the block but depending on what shape or condition your engine is in you take a chance on flushing out some intake and head gasket material. The sad part is you won't know until you fire the engine back up. I have seen it happen a couple of times. If the motor is old and has a lot of miles on it i would flush it and re gasket it.

I have a 466bbf with c6 and 28 spline 9inch. most likely will either swap the rear for dana 60 or convert the 9 inch to a 31 spline. ? is though what are issues with the engine that I will need to take in consideration? also I am running an electric fan on the front protected by the condenser that has holes in it for air flow as well as the belt driven fan with some cardboard pieces for the shroud. also upper a arms are welded so no worries on sitting too low. anything you see wrong or need to change?

Depends on what is all done to the engine. Stock, mild or wild?

I am curious if any of you guys have had good luck at keeping 460's from getting hot? I am talking about the 460's from the 1968-1971 era. Any thoughts would be appreciated.

I think E-85 or alky will be your best bet. I'm building a 71' 429 for E-85 but its not done yet. The 460's we run are 77's and we can't keep them cool even with an oil cooler so we don't try anymore just have to set it up to keep it running when hot. Some guys run fabric softener along with water in their radiators and they say it helps. The only difference i can see is with a 68-71 you are running 10.5 to 1 comp vs. 8.5 to 1 like our 77's
