Sweet because that C6 is built! Don't know if the shift kit matters though but probably a way better tranny than the FMX

If the c6 was bolted to a 390 it will not bolt up to a 351m bell housing bolt pattern is different.

I have a c3 trans, i believe it is a 79. I got it all set up in my car this weekend, put fluid in it. it went in all gears, then i shut it off and fluid started over flowing out the fill tube. it looked kinda milky so i thought maybe it had water in it cause it sat for years before i bought it. so today i dropped the pan, changed the filter, filled it back up, put it through the gears. everything was good then i shut it off and the same thing happened. fluid overflowing out the dipstick tube after i shut it off and it still looked a little milky.
any ideas what is going on? any fix for this that doesnt involve a rebuild?

white fluid is a sign of air bubbles in the fluid.I think you may have your fluid too full and it's being airated.

I had that thought but i am pretty sure the fluid level is pretty close. and even if it were say a 1/2 a QT high that wouldnt cause it to over flow that like that would it? it probably puked out an 1/8 to a 1/4 QT of fluid.
I was told today it could be the torque convertor not disengaging. does that sound like it could be accurate?

I'm not really a tranny guy. A torque converter a lockup one would cause a motor to run rough or stall at idle.Check to make sure the vent on the tranny isn't plugged up.But an overfill will surely do this.

I'm not completely ruling it out yet but I'm pretty sure the level was correct. I did some google searching tonight and I read a lot of cases similar to mine leading to a plugged vent. I think when I get a chance I will start there.
