Pull the line and pull the filter. See if you can blow through it. Or just hook the line back up and run the pump, see if fuel flows through. You should go ahead and replace that filter anyway just in case.

I have a 91 grand marquis 302 efi. I want to switch to carb and run points distributor. Can it be done as far as running points, and do you have to do anything special to trans or will it work with nothing plugged in. Not familiar with fords, usually run Chrysler stuff.
thanks

ya you can run points,,,,there's something about the dist. gear ,, replacing it with a steel,, cast or bronze gear,, ,,, i don't remember,,
you will need a longer throttle cable,,,
the AOD trans will need the throttle valve linkage locked in place between 3/4 and full,,
running 904s and 727s,,, you know about that,,

Converting an early 85 Vic TBI to carb, hei distributor, holley red in line pump. My question is the ignition system. What all will I need to "keep" from the original setup since I'm putting in an hei? Stock starter, so I'm assuming keep solenoid. Will I need a duraspark box, or can I wire the hei straight through a toggle like on small block chevy's? Trying to keep it simple and just run the engine in the car for once.

I did the exact same swap a couple years back, I would recommend ditching the duraspark box all together. I kept frying mine anytime I welded on the car. Even with the batt. Completely unhooked and removed from the car. I went through 5 or 6 new ones and used ones. I wish I would have just done the HEI instead. Also, I made an adapter to fit a Rochester 2g carb to the Ford intake. I couldn't find a reliable motorcraft carb anywhere. I've seen A lot of guys say you will need an electric pump, but all I had to do was install an older timing cover from a carbed motor. Even though the fuel injected timing cover didn't have an opening for a mechanical pump, the cam gear was still the correct one for driving the fuel pump. Just slapped a timing cover and carbed intake and was good to go. Just wish i had an HEI.

Yes you will wire HEI just like a Chevy. And yes keep the starter solenoid you can re use that.

It doesn't have a duraspark box, at least mine doesn't. I'm just not a ford engine guy and had no clue what all I would need during the conversion. Luckily I already had the low pressure fuel pump, a Holley 2bl, and mostly everything I need, besides headers and a Ford HEI distributor, but those are cheap. Thanks for the help guys.

Hey everyone my brother has a 83 grand marquis, had had the tbi with duraspark ignition. We swapped carb to motorcraft 2bbl and bought a hei off Ebay. I I had it running yesterday but it ran rough, no throttle response, had to ease into it and even at high idle it felt rough, lot of popping out of exhaust. Today I tried again and it wont even try to fire and never moved distributor, looked at firing order and found one online and the one I had was wrong, so i swapped to the new order I found and that's when it quit firing up, I switched it back to the old one I had and still nothing, there seems to be a couple different firing orders for these 302s, I'm used to Chevys and this Ford is kicking my ass lol. We are wanting to switch over to a 500cfm edelbrock as I have many built for the sport. Will any 4bbl sbf intake work on this? And why is the new distributor not working? I had tdc on number one and pointed rotor at number one on cap, thought it was 180 out so I took distributor out and flipped rotor 180 and still nothing, I'm lost for what to do and need a second opinion. Any help?

I've had the module be complete junk on those Ebay HEI distributors, I just put the module out of old distributor in it and they work just fine after that.
