they switched to efi roller motors sometime in 85 if you have the throttle body injection system you can bolt a 2 barrel right on and the throttle cable will work, if you swapped the ford 302 over from fuel injection, with the upper plenum and fuel rails etc. you will need a longer throttle cable because itll be about 2 inches ish too short.

Sounds like a low or dead battery. Or maybe a bad ground? Or the solenoid is bad?

As far as cheap ignition goes, we always use a duraspark distributor and GM hei module with a TFI coil. Extremely cheap powerful ignition system that uses very few wires.

I put the ground on the tranny. Brand new battery. Yes I have 12 volts to starter when solenoid. Yes I did that was the wiring diagram that is the one I was going off of . Do you think I need a regulator box?

Make sure your solenoid is grounded good too the battery or engine not the body.It will cause it to just click if you try to ground to body.I had it happen in the past and then I wired a jumper ground to my battery and it fired right up.

Do you think I need a regulator box? every car built at the factory,,, has the ground bolted to the engine,,, now why would that be ? because,,,, thats where it belongs... a regulator has nothing to do with cranking,, if nothing works,,,, touch your starter cable right to the battery positive... if it doesn't crank,, maybe the starter is garbage,,

I had that problem lastnight actually. 2nd starter I've put in the car and it was locked right up. Try jumping starter right to batt like stated. Then you'll know if it's the starter. Its also a way to bypass the selinoid
