But anyway back to my question has anyone ever just pushed the middle of the trunk down so when your looking at it from the side it Vs... I know how everyone dose them now so they V or U jw if anyone has tried it this other way or if its a stupid idea

It'll do the same thing as tucking it. I've done it before way back in the day. More work for same result

Here is how I did mine. Pretty simple and held up really great, I would even say beyond my expectations. I think it's sums up lot of information on this thread.
2 nothches, Impala Hood, GM 10 bolts, 80's Vic steel bumper, light prebend. No hump plates allowed. I was the target on the track and it bend exactly how I wanted!

Weld it first, or you'll end up with a huge gap. Then use a bfh and beat center out.

Weld it then use a chain from cage to bumper and put a floor jack or portapower between the chain and trunk lid.
