Large dimple at the end of the shocks and another smaller dimple about 10 inches further, then to canoe the trunk, I take a chain and wrap it around my bumper up to my behind the seat bar, then taking my three ton floor Jack I use the chain as a push stopping point for my,Jack and reverse the method of lifting to pushing down which will use a few helping blows to the lid from a good sized hammer and you will have to 're adjust the chain and Jack around to get a good curve. Saves time and energy and over all is just easier than smacking it 4000 times. I do minimal body lines which when my notch folds the quarter panel ends up being a gusset to my pillar which is connected to my bumper after the first fold, and ties into my roll loop and cage.... use your imagination and remember it's not what you do but how you do it that will pay off.

ive got one question and after reading the 12 pages here what are you guys doing with the metal that holds on the back lights when you canoe? are you cutting it out completely or are you slitting the sides and folding them inside the trunk compartment?

When I do all 98 and up I cut a 6in square out of the backside corner of deck lid and notch the bracing just inside the fold similar to the way you would fold in half. Then tuck the deck lid in behind the tail light bezel and weld front and sides then pull it with threaded rod or a big hammer. When you get it where you want it weld the back including tail light bezel to deck lid. Pre 98 Lincoln's and mercury's are slightly different because there taller but I do them the same way minus cutting the corners. If you look a few pages back I posted a pic of one of my Vic's done this way. Hope this helps

What are people doing with the aluminum trunks on the bubbles? Are you replacing with a different trunk lid or using the aluminum lid?

Ok I have a question and it maybe a stupid idea but im going to see what you guys think... im going to tuck the trunk on my 79 Lincoln but im looking at where I cut it to fold the end down and into the trunk.. now say instead of doing that I were to weld part of the trunk down in the back and in the front then beat the trunk down so it V's and do the same with the sides of the rear... would that pack in nicely or make it go down or whale tail like a mf anyone got a opinion
