302 not a torque motor no matter what you do to it... better off starting with a 351w.

351 Windsor is the best 302s are reliable but if you want torque for cheap just pay $300 for a running junk yard truck engine get a 135 dollar extreme 4x4 262h comp cam kit / gt40p heads just drill the head bolt holes for 1/2 inch bolts and you got yourself over 300ft lbs of torque easy. don't waist your money on 302 blocks especially stroker kits can only go up to a 347 anyway. they are good for 400 hp max and that's pushing it. the 351w are thicker and more reliable with added power hands down. we-crash.proboards.com/index.cgi?board=ford&action=display&thread=29121 read the last post on ford motor

^^^Duration at .050 is the number that matters.

^^^Duration at .050 is the number that matters. I agree. I just didn't know what mine were. As far as heat goes I've not had any issues with starting. Just make sure you use good header gaskets or you'll fry your plug wires if you do run hot. Lost four the first night out. Got screwed out of $1,000. That night. I'm just glad to see people starting to show more interest in fords these days.

weight has alot to do with damage dealt. The other factor is speed. mass times acceleration. You want torque for stop and go environment.
Your best bet with a 302 is rpms and gears to accomplish this.

Unfortunately you're behind the game if you just now started running 80s Vics. They blew up and blew out. 98-02 and 03+ Vics are what's ruling the arenas now.
As for motor, I'm not a Ford guy at all.
