Check your thermostat. I have ran a few older subarus and I know these are similar up front. Timing belt is inches from the bumper, if you can run a good bumper on the front do it, the plastic stock bumper won't do much lol. The teal and black wagon in this video is around that year. His car couldn't have been more stock. I'm in the all black wagon that ended his day. Do something to the rear so this doesn't happen lol. www.youtube.com/watch?v=UxTpRImIMIU

ya the only bumper i have is a flat bumper. im gonna try to find a better one but if i cant om gonna end up using the flay one and fill it with square tubing... but as far as the engine goes. the tstat has been changed. it doesnt smoke. it runs perfect for about 10 miles then it over heats. then it builds pressure and blows the cap and the antifreeze out of the over flow bottle

Take the rad cap off while it's cold. Fire it up. As it warms up, see if there are air bubbles in your coolant.

alright ill try that this weekend... i dont think its head gaskets or water pump cuz it doesnt smoke at all, dosent leak any where, and doesnt miss or sputter

Thermostat should be taken out to begin with anyways. I've had several engines with the thermostats stuck on them just from sitting around.

Bad head gasket could be pushing hot compression into the cooling system, and nut pulling enough coolant back into the cylinder to cause noticeable smoke, especially if the leak is still small. With the t-stat, I prefer to leave a new one in with holes drilled in it, but to each their own.

I'd confirm it before doing the job.

Subarus are always well known for head issues. I'd love to see the afters of the car though!

ive never built or ran one so take it for what its worth. i saw one run and it did fairly good. got like 4th place i think. the guy pulled the rear driveshaft which after watching it i would pull the fronts instead. the front struts bent BAD (broken or pulled apart axle is why the car only got 4th), the tires were almost flat on the ground. he used the back mostly and it never really moved. front bent in a bit but not really bad. Btw this was in chain class.
