I wouldn't be afraid to use a plastic fan. I used one all year I liked them because when the radiator or hood gets into the fan it tears less up.

The problen with the plastic/flex fans, are they are designed to "open" or go flat at high rpms. That way at low speed/rpms, they cool your radiator, but at higher speed/rpms, you have less need for them, because of higher air flow. I don't know to many derby people that run their cars at low rpms. I've never ran a electric one, but they sound alright. We run a clutch fan, that is tact welded in a couple spots. Cools at low/high rpms. And if the radiator gets pushed back into the fan, the welds break, but still allow the water pump to pump.

I switched to plastic engine driven. I used electric for years and was just never happy with the cooling effects. When used in combo with a good fan shroud that can shred, they move a lot of air and my motor seems cooler than ever. IMO the time it takes to make even half a shroud really improves cooling.

A fan is more effective with a fan shroud. I have ran those plastic ones with homemade shrouds and they worked well.

Was looking around just wondering if anyone had any luck with Speedway radiators?

I have ran many of them. If you wait until they have the flate rate shipping deal (7.99) and find one in the garage sale section you can get a pretty good deal. Otherwise its cheaper to get one from DEC headers or off Ebay. Just my experience.

Known a few guys around here who run them great results. Bought my first one to try this season off ebay for $140 with free shipping and built very well imo. Shops around here cant get for under $200.
