The only problem I see with retaining the throttle body set up us having that much pressure on a fuel line. I've seen a few fires in mini cars that planted my feet strictly in the mechanical fuel pump group. I currently have a 92 5.0 h.o. roller engine from a camaro retrofitted with a mechanical pump. I have also had a 93 tbi 350 truck engine that had the block drilled for the mechanical pump push rod. I will agree that it is mostly going to be by chance hit/miss but is worth looking into. Im not sure what you were meaning by switching to a vortec style intake bluecrew? Vortec FI intakes/heads are lacking bolts on the manifold. Edelbrock does make a performer retrofit intake for centerbolt heads to run a carb. And they also make one for vortec style heads. If you decide to order one you need to stick to the tbi style of centerbolt heads pattern. www.summitracing.com/search/department/air-fuel-delivery/section/intake-manifolds/part-type/intake-manifolds-carbureted/make/chevrolet/engine-size/5-7l-350/cylinder-head-style-application/vortecThat is what i thought you were meaning. That style will not work with tbi style center bolt heads

If you use a stock ecm the fuel pump will turn off if the engine is not running. For a TBI you only need tp, inj, ect, iat, iac, map and the dist that came with the tbi eng. Of course you need all the powers and grounds. A wiring diagram should be used. Personally i would trick the ect and iac with resistors to have a fixed temp so it runs slightly rich all the time.

well anybody says it cant be done is wrong.. cuz we ran a tbi off a 454SS on a well built 355 with a regular performer intake with a alum plate to be able to run the TBI and ran very good with a simple harness and ecm it will run fine. u do need to run a return system on the fuel side for sure,,, if not u will fill the carb and engine with fuel..it happened with us.. it ran very smooth and started everytime even over 300 degrees,, dont have to worry about ur carb sticking,etc... then last season we built a FAST injected LS6.0 and it did even better... if anybody has any question give me a holler...

I know old thread but the question has not been answered in my searches. Anybody got a link to this wiring diagram? Like what size resistor and where to put it? I'm doing a trailer race and just to make it easy I am using a running truck with TBI and just want to eliminate what I don't need.

The electric fuel pump is my biggest worry with them. I like the idea that when an engine with a mechanical pump stalls, the fuel cuts with it. Why, I run an electric fuel people along with several others and don't have a problem. not a single thing wrong with them.

you can find an adapter from the tbi intake to the carb you will be using. Otherwise you will have to find an aftermarket intake cause the center holes are different on TBI heads. You can grind out the holes on a stock intake, ive seen that done to. I would change over to a HEI distributor. i think you can run the stock coil and distributor but i wouldnt mess with it.
