Looking for tips to put chev 350 in a 74 eldorado n keep it front wheel drive.I know I need adapter plate n possibly oil pan.ty Raymond H-67. I am pretty sure that any BOP/Caddy trans adapter will work. May need to get creative on a starter, I know I did. You will need to modify or build an oil pan for sure to clear the right side axle shaft, also you can weld the diff gears but it is a bitch, but doable. Also, the passenger half shaft needs changed out with a driver side shaft. You will see see why if you look a little. I like to build a mild cradle (don't need much with these) and move the motor/transaxle package up and rear a few inches each way. (again you need to be creative, on the upside no one knows these cars so....create!) Good Luck

finally ran the rwd toronado, the drivetrain worked well, tucked trunk packed. the front was hard but the s bends in front of the a arms collapsed. I'm stubbing on frame rails from a cordoba now and will run it again, will get some pics.

Try the Photobucket app. I've been using it on my Android to get pics from my phone to other boards using my computer pretty easily.

So cowdoc, worth the effort to do the conversion? I think so but I would do a solid rear frame yr as the rear on mine was just the same as any 71-3 gm rear and didnt hold up well. The conversion is fairly simple, dont cut out too much tunnel until youre ready to put driveline in as you dont need to do much except the torsion bar x member needs an arch cut and some reinforcement, the firewall crossmemebers gotta come out and you have to build an engine cradle crossmember. restubbing straight rails in front of a arms made the front crazy strong. I have a 75 that runs so I'm going to leave front wheel drive and run stock show next yr, will post on it.

I'm in search of information about a 77 eldorado. The lower joint on the axles has a cage holding the joint together. Does anyone have a recommendation on the reinforcement of that cage. Or how they have found a way to eliminate it.
