For running pretty much stock sbc's what would best 4:10s or 5.38s? I'm thinking 5.38s or is there much of a difference? we ran a 5.67 in a old iron with a stock 350 and was little too much gear. thats with 7.00x15 on rear. droped down to a 4.86 in our round back and my boy loved it. so a bigger old iron a 4.86ford/4.88gm i think is good. vics alittle lighter so 4.10 would be good. if you run both that might give you an idea to find a happy medium.

so i'm a little lost on this 8 lug rear thing. you guys run rears out of duallys? how do you get them to a single tire/rim combo? i'm tearing down a 70's dodge camper currently and was just going to cut the rear up for scrap. but if i can get to convert to something i might be able use in the future i might keep it around. thanks in advance for any help on this.

Postal Mopar/Raptor fab have a truss system for mounting upper ears and a weld on plate for lower control arms or leaf springs.

Take the lowers off the 8.8 and weld to the 8 lug rear and buy the uppers from whoever. I got mine from AFAB metalworks. need to have the bushings from Oriely's though. The ones from advanced/autozone are different sizes even though the numbers are crossed.

I didn't buy anything for mine. I built everything to set mine up and have been running it for 6 years with no issues. I will try to get some pics of it on here in the next couple days.

When I go looking for a 14 bolt what year of truck am I looking for 73 to present 3/4s and 1 tons chevy. 10.5 produced 73-87 at least 88 and newer 11.5 I'm probably wrong on the 10.5 and 11.5 but anything after 73. One tons have bigger hubs and drums.

I took the carrier apart to weld mine but I know some guys who just welded thru the holes in the carrier. I don't recommend that but it can be done.

Axles are the same bolt patterns are different one tons have bigger studs, leaf spring perches for the one tons are closer together, 2.5 drum for 3/4 ton 3.5 drum for 1 ton. The drums are huge one tons.

The drums are huge one tons. This isnt all exact becuase there are some single wheel tons that have the big brakes and wide springs.
