Why did you chop the front stabilizer bar up and weld it back on? Are you talking about the sway bar? If so, I didn't chop it up, just bent it to lay on the strut bars for the lower a arms, then welded it all together. I figure you cant have too much metal or weld right ;D

Thanks for the comments guys. Yea the bumper is pretty gnarly ;D the homemade shocks are actually only 12-1/2" long. It's a shame I didn't get to test the front bumper out really, nobody would nose it with me Btw, more pics of the wife in the gm mid size picture thread with the Malibu she ran a couple weeks ago

Ya it was, it was done the day of the derby, all we had/had time to do. I wasn't worried about it though

fits the mild weld rules around here. the shame about it is, i had the most underbuilt car at the shows, and will continue to have if i dont do more work

I'm curious about the leaf spring mounting- was there a reason you located them to the side of the frame rails instead of inline? Was it to get it lower in the back?

On a side note any plans on upgrading to more HP and some steeper gears? crazy for fair shows right??? i think i have my heart set on putting a 5.3LS in it, along with upgrading the gears to mid to high 5's. the solid rubber rear forklift tires are coming off this winter for lots more grooving

Was it to get it lower in the back? they fell like that with the perches on the rear end at the factory location. so i flipped the leaf packs upside down and clamped them as tight as possible to get the rear low...
