Those spring pockets like to collapse so incorporate your plates to them also to support them if you can.

63 mercury monterey. Weld show, what kind of bumper do you guys run on the back of these? I would just put something on it durable enough to hold the frame rails together.

if body mounts are replaced and patched would it be ok to use a different rear bumper?

"Different" yes, but stock or a soft bumper is still preferred. Just enough to be there until body rolls. This is a 80's or 90's Ford econoline rear bumper

i ran my 58 edsel with the stock rear bumper and it ripped off. then they pealed all the rear body mounts and they were replaced to 3/4. now im putting 76 gm rear bumper brackets to the frames with a 76 rear monaco bumper. front frame bent were the seams split. car held up good to a 64 lincoln and a 61 gal. betting on me.

Have any pics ? I ll probably snap some pics by this weekend and maybe throw a couple on here. Got m/t almost done mounted and ran out of wire, so went ahead and cut my quarters and stuff that I needed to do, gotta make clearance and at the same time get rid of some rusty lower quarters, a nice few hrs worth of welding and itll start looking like something lol
