I have what I was told is a 390 in a mercury Monterey but the valve covers are stamped 390. I’m new to running older cars but I’ve been told thay it’s the same as a ford 390, which would make sense. Is it worth anything to sell? Or is it better to derby? Or just set it aside as a spare?

Got a free 63 galaxy but it’s missing a few things, how important are the inner fenders and or any other clips close enough that can be made to work?

Ive helped graph crown vic fenders and core support on a stubbed one, along with another one I cant remember. I dont like the stock sheetmetal, and I think if I do another fresh im just gonna begin with a vic front clip.

Has anyone used ford i beam bumper shocks on these and if so how did they do? We have used these on many other model cars and we welded them on top of frame. If you use them they need to be taken apart and welded up good and then put back together. If your going for bumper height and to help that dip in frame it will help you there too and if you wanted you can even hide some extra steel under the I beams and shock box.

Has anyone used ford i beam bumper shocks on these and if so how did they do? One of my cousins prefers the I beam shocks on the fronts of his old Fords. As long as they're welded up, they should do pretty well. Side note: first time back on this site in a long time, and it's rather amusing that a thread I started in high school almost a decade ago is still on the first page of Ford Tips/Tricks.

If you lengthen the Ford ones I out them on from a arms to bumper on 80s ups and saw some in 60s Ford. Helped with height of bumper for sure.

Yes you can lengthen the ford brackets to about 22 inches and still weld the bracket up solid and yes that will help a lot of other cars if aloud ive seen them used on 70s caddy and worked great. on these though the small frame cars only have 16 inches from front of A arm to end of frame so the factory length of the I beam ford works great

So I have more of a conversational topic question. The rules for one of the shows im running at the end of july allow me to Add 2 additional body mounts in the location of my choices firewall back to rear bumper im curious to see where others would put these extra body mounts I have two ideas of where I might be putting my extra right under the fire wall at my feet where these tend to belly or the rear floor aera at the front of each leaf spring to possably help the rear from dumping. Just curious what others might do?
Here is the rule copied straight from the rules book
7. You may add (2) body mounts in the position of your choice from the firewall back to the rear bumper. ⅝” bolts up to 8” in length and must have a 1” body spacer in between frame and body. They must be painted a bright color for easy viewing. Wagons with extra bolts in the humps already will be considered your (2) extra mounts. If you decide to bolt your coil springs in place through the frame and rear package tray, these will count as your added mounts. They may be 1” in diameter.
