I have a 97 grand am. Won't turn over. I pulled exhaust off and it now won't turn over. I can hear my fuel pump start and door alarm dinging but when I turn the key to start there is nothing. The theft light along with a bunch of other lights are on. The theft light is constantly on and not flashing. Any help would be appreciated. I left the car in the ON position for 10 minutes but theft light was still steady on and car wouldn't start.

What would someone recommend for someone who has no way of get an instrument cluster reinstalled?
We've got two wires that are completely off and not sure where they go.
Thanks!

For those interested take a look at this link to bypass www.kingbain.com/how-to-permanently-disable-gm-passlock-system/Was just having problems with a 98 Grand Am which is now running, have yet to hear back from a friend if he used this link to fix it or another way, but I will add that here when I find out from him (I'm at work)

That's great news. Next year, probably looking to transfer 98 Cavi drivetrain into a non GM car. This will help.

Ok I got a buddy running a 1997 Chevy lumina with the chip in the key. He removed the dash and cut the purple with black line and white with black line thAt runs the vac. He took dash to the landfill so it's gone. Now car won't run and that security system isn't in the car at all anymore. Any ideas of what we could do to resolve this? Any and all ideas greatly aPpreciated. The car will not even crank over and we can't put the resister in there because the security thing was removed when he took dash out

I don't think you can do much else except put a resister in the wires. Figure out the ohms in the key by putting an ohm meter on either side of the chip in the key

Gotta get both. Or just get the key and box ohm the key and put the box in and resistor the wire.

Same problem again guys. 98 Pontiac sunfire with the anti theft prob. No dash lights, will fire up for split sec each time the ignition is reset. I bought the car with the ignition wired for no key and that has never been a problem. I unbolted a sensor located on the passenger side radiator support, but have grounded it back to the body and hasn't ran since( do know exactly what sensor it was). Usually I can turn the car on and as soon as the cluster decides to light up it will clear. Derby is in a week and I have to fix this thing. Any bypass procedure? Also, I've checked fuses and it seems all that are necessary to run are good
