i figure this will help with the multiple tire doubling threads and hopefully this will get stickied... my question is what will fit inside a 27x8.50 15?

Running in my first stock class next year and the rules for two different places say that doubling or tubing tires is ok but they have to be car tires. How is that done?
Thanks for any info.

Correction.
To make it a little easier, you want to go TWO sizes smaller for inner tire. If your outside is a 235-70-15, you will want a 215-70-15 or even 205-70.
Basically, you take ratchet straps and compress the inside tire one direction, so it makes an oval, then compress the other direction. Spread the outside tire wide enough to get the inside tire started. Take off strap # 2 and feed more inside tire into the outside tire. When it has a good position, remove strap # 1 and slide the rest of inside tire into the outside tire. Will probably have to bounce it hard a few times to get it completely settled. It's not a complicated process, just a pain in the ass process. I swear by doubling. I have a set that I doubled last year, has a 8'' cut all the way through outside tire. I have run it 3x since and it's still good. Inside tire is pristine.
As for tubing, unless it's 8ply or greater, I would double. To be honest, 8ply would be debatable. I tubed some 6ply tires last year because everyone said tubes were great. I lost two tires within 3 minutes and it took me out of contention.
I have also seen people cut an outer wall off of another tire and mount it on their tires. Sort of like a "shield" to prolong punctures to the good tire.

Please sticky this. Trial and error finding the right size stuffer sucks. Got some troubles Ryan lol? As for a 185-14.. I'd go with a 13 incher, cut the inner bead, and stuff it. Cause how much lower can you get with a 14? I hear of people running 205-15 in there skids.

Is it really that hard to measure the outside of the stuffer tire and the inside of the stuffee?
Does there need to be a special thread about measureing and then putting one tire inside of the other?

What fits inside a 7.00 x 15? Besides a tube. Never had luck with them?

Have a bunch of 195-65-15 laying around. Will those work?

I put 195-65-15 inside a 235-65-15 tire. It works and was not extremely difficult to put inside. However, it does make it appear like the outside tire is flat (bulges at the bottom with weight on it.) I have not found this to be a disadvantage, if anything, the flexing of the bulge actually keeps the tires cleaner with muddy conditions.

You have to measure or try it. Does't matter what sizes you stipulate different brands/lines of tires are diffferent overall sizes even though they say the same size on them. I've been bit by it before and ended up with too big of inside tire even though it was all my regular sizes. On a side note, a big prybar and alot more grunt work than it took to put it in, you can get the inside tire out and try again.

we put a set of 195/60's in a set of 7.00-15 power kings.... made a buldge, but worked out decently so far
also.. doubling is a pain in the ass.. but with a little elbow grease it can be done
