Ran a 66 this past weekend. Used mopar shocks up front but had to drill a new hole, I wasn't allowed to bolt all the way back in the last factory hole. That being said, I had the a arms welded solid to the frame for height and the upper a arms taco'ed and my bumper sits at a nice 14 inches now. I just wanted to confirm 70s Ford uppers and spindles fit right in? Then weld suspension solid again

Anyone ever restubbed one of these unibodys before I have 64 that I nosed but the cab and trunk is completely rust-free and still in good condition.. have the same exact car not wrecked next to it but the rust from the cab back is straight cancer I was thinking about Restubbing the front end off the rust box cuz that's still clean onto my old tbird just wondering if anyone restubbed a unibody before

What’s everyone’s opinion on these stock? 10” bumper bracket/ shock, no dp, trans brace, or any fancy gear. Can relocate the rear shocks to go inline with the frame.
How much strength am I going to lose cutting the firewall if I have a good cage. Would it still hold up to a pointy? Or is this more of a only good when welded car? And yes I’ve read through the 36 pages, got a bird for $100 wondering if I should use it as trading stock or build it

Anybody still alive on this thread?
Building a 63 for a light/limited weld show. No protectors, 14" bumper brackets. Rear frame was rusted at the rear bottom of the humps either side, patched. Rear shackles were rotted along with the truck floor back to the bumper and bumper brackets. Re sheeted floor back to where the bumper brackets bolt up and welded 2x3 1/4", 6" long angle on the inside of the unibody to bolt Mopar mounts and shackles to. Came together nicely with a mopar 8 3/4" tucked in.
Should I be concerned about the back 8" of rotten shit dumping and putting stress on the rest? Already asked about shortening the whole car up to the shackles and that was a no go 😂😂😂

I’ve went through every page of this thread. Rules that I run today are a little different than things were 5-10 year’s ago. So I’m going to make this as short and sweet as I can. I’m only asking about the front of this car.
1960 bird. Firewall cut out Lower cradle no mid plate You can lock the transmission if you want. Down tubes may not help with transmission cross member. Change front suspension ( I’m a metric GM upper and box ford spindle kinda guy) (8) 6x6x1/8 plates (you can shape them however you want. Cant connect to motor or transmission) 14 inch bumper bracket. Thinking Chrysler shock tube. 2 upper 2 lower 2x4 Aarm straps. I already know what to do there.
Main question is. The 8 plates. Street stock build.
Giving you an idea, a caddy will be the hardest car on the track to the same rules. Would this car compete? Thoughts and opinions are welcomed.
(I’ve already heard thoughts from a couple people on here. Lol) I always like trying something different. Just fyi. Shawn

How would a 61-66 bird do in hobo class? Only allowed 2 plates 6x6 1/8. And 5/8 althread. No body shaping. How would it do against old iron GMs? Stock bumper can me loaded if you want. Thanks.
