Gas tank protectors and wire to the frame etc is illegal around here. Why? -because it's obviously not just a gas tank protector and our shows are trying to get rid of the braces with fancy names-distributor protectors, cradles etc. In fact we can't prebend fresh cars in most of the shows within a few hundred miles. That car bent sweet and should be badass for another run. I would love to run mine but probably will sell it to somebody with better rules.

It will run again, and may not even need more than one set of plates, it did semi pucker the humps but didn't blow them out by anymeans. The gastank protector actually isn't even touching the back sheet metal yet, but the #9 wire I think is a huge help.

I was surprised how well that 624 car held up in Gillette. I kinda went after the backend of it because I thought they were weak cars and I have one and wanted to see how they held up. There wasn't even a dash or seat bar was there? Looks like it even ran again.

It looks like you kept the stock bumpers how did they hold up? Just got a 71 I'm building to wire class. I'm allowed to switch to any gm but wasn't sure how stout the originals are. Did tucking your trunk make a huge difference?

Not sure if tucking it made a difference. First hit I went under a car and the backend went down and it was junk after that. I am sure if it was a good square it should if rolled right up. That is not stock bumper. A buddy of mine ran one and its a decent bumper if your thinking of just running it once or twice. Not sure if the 71 is the same 73 though.

Did tucking your trunk make a huge difference? My car shown above was a '71. The bumpers are junk on them, but the rear bumper doesn't really matter as I don't think it would benefit from a shock bumper due to it rolling so easily. The '71 front bumper is just two pieces of chrome bolted together, it'll never hold up. Look for a '74-6 chevy bumper for a stock set of rules.

Good to know it may seem like a dumb question but I haven't seen my brothers car inperson and I'm generally the builder. I told him to snag the car because of the front ends figuring I would probably need to invest in an Iimpala bumper cuz there isn't much ass on that car from the pics I've seen. I appreciate the input fellas. We are new and trying to get competitive while being broke:-)
