I currently run a 30 over 400.... did not drill the steam holes in the heads.... have no problem keeping it cool even with my heavy foot.... have yet to see how long it will go without a radiator.... I’m sure I will find out soon enough

Would Comp XE268H be to much for a 355 with 6in rods, flat top pistons and 186 double hump heads 64cc? Or would Comp 268H be a better fit?

Google Danger Mouse Part 7, it is a Super Chevy article. The XE268H (224,230 @ .050) gave up a fair amount of torque compared to the XE262H (218,224 @ .050) There is 2 reasons why I'd go with the 268H instead. The intensity of the XE cams scares me for wiping a cam lobe in Derby application, and with open headers I doubt the extra exhaust duration will be helping all that much.

I run it in an engine with less work done then you described and it hasn't been an issue. The heads on mine are 72ccs. Pretty much a stock 350 with that cam in my case.

Any chance that's why I keep having huge header fires? I'm pretty sure it's a carb thing but the fuel pressure is low like 7 or less (no gauge on it) little red edelbrock pump. But I have to reach over and pinch the fuel line off and crank on it till the flames go out definatly floods out though then will fire up and good to go for a few more minutes

Looking to put together a 305 for a few stock heats in some county Fair shows. 20-25 min heats typically. Not concerned with making power. Only looking to have a clean running motor at doesn't shit off. I'm thinking pull it down. Reseal it, hone the cylinders, timing chain, oil pump, 1104 cam, Holly carb. I'd like to have the heads touched a bit. Should I just have them cleaned up? Different valves? Certain heads to look for? Looking for any input in this department. Thanks

I was in a rollover this past weekend. There’s mud and dirt packed into headers. Plus there was a fire so extinguisher powder all over. Some dirt made it to the valves. What should I do pull the heads? Or slap other headers on it? It’s not a high dollar engine but there is a little money in it. Also what works to get the powder off?

On the early small blocks what are you using to block off the oil fill and breather holes? The one in the intake a s the one in the back if the block. I 2ant to use newer style valve covers and plug these 2 holes off
