I already have all plumbing and alky fuel pump and a carb from our old modified. I buy alky at the local dirt track for 2.50 / gallon. Everywhere I plan to run the heats are under 30 mins. Would that be too long to run without a radiator. I'm still up in the air on deciding to build a motor setup for alky or gas

I personally would try running alky if I still had all of the equipment due to the fact a motor will run cooler in the long run. I was just saying how it "could" get expensive starting at ground zero. I do believe though that 30 mins. w/out a radiator wouldn't be a good idea. Your mod wouldn't run 30 laps around butler without water. I know it's different rpm's and all but the theory is still the same

I wish we could get 30 laps in at butler. If its anything like last yr damn near every race was shortened due to cautions

Would that be too long to run without a radiator. I'm still up in the air on deciding to build a motor setup for alky or gas This is my 4th year on alcohol. I would run a radiator no matter how short your heats usually are. My reasoning for this is one your not being as hard on your engine, if u keep it cool for half the.heat or feature your a lot less likely to burn a head gasket or crack a head due to heat issues and your going to go a lot farther than u were without any cooling. 2nd reason is just because your average heats last 15-25 min doesn't mean you won't get into a heat or a feature that last 45-60 min...it only takes 1 other car that won't die for a derby to go on and on. I run an electric holley black fuel pump (bought new) $165? Haven't had an issue with it yet in 4 years...I have a 500 holley that I've run for 4 years and haven't touched other than accelerator pump, I think its bout ready for a rebuild thou. At the end of every derby I run all the alcohol out of the carb and before Im done before the year ends I will disconnect my fuel line at the.tank and will drop it in a gallon of gas with some 2 cycle mix and run my car till everything has flushed out of the line, pump, filter. 2011 was my first year with a 750 holley, with this carb my tank is 12 gallon I can run a hard derby and last 35 min. Any longer than that I'm screwed pretty well. As far as fuel lines I bought some 1/2 aeroquip pushlock hose and fittings out of speedway It very durable and its lasted 4 years no trouble as well...all in all if u buy everything brand new to run alcohol you will spend ball park of 800-1000 depending on where u buy. Imo I'm very satisfied with it & it might be just my lack of experience with engis and such or could be the alcohol but it does take time to get it set up right. I've never heard of a 25% hp gain always ball park of 8-12% and e-85 is 6-10%...just my 2 cents o and I don't have any problem at all finding fuel and its usually 50-75 cents cheap than gas.

Double roller timing chain, distributor upgrade, carb upgrade, headers, new starter, fuel pump, plugs and wires, timing set appropriately etc.
