Does anyone have experience with 059 heads? I got this engine complete with bottom end issues, with plans of putting the heads on my 350, I was told it was a 5.7 vortec i didn’t even question it because of the intake and throttle body. Tore the heads off started cleaning them up and check the casting number is 12558059, I did a little research and it turns out it is a 5.0 vortec. Just curious if anyone has tried these on a 350? 305 heads on a 350 will bump your Compression ratio up a bit, maybe with some porting these heads will perform nearly as well a set of 062s but with higher CR? Thanks!

What’s your guy opinion on using priority main oiling for a Chevy 350? Good, bad, not worth it?

Out of curiosity, has anybody tangled with a 5.3 vortec (LM7)? I have them readily available in my area for very cheap out of early 00’s gm pickups. I would like to do a carb conversion with a 6014 MSD ignition system if I were to go that route, just don’t see any talk of them. Pros and cons of a stock and/or mild builds is what I’m looking for. Just asking around because I’m fairly new to the derby world and don’t want to get myself into something that would be a complete waste of time. I do have an ‘86 305 and a ‘79 2 bolt main 350, just trying to test the waters on something a little different. Thanks in advance guys.

Building an engine this winter. At the machine shop now so I’m shopping around for parts. My question is what roller rockers are decent? Debating whether or not to fork up the cash for comp cams pro mags

My motor has comp in it, I know some use scorpion. Yeah difference being $70 both lifetime warranty to original purchaser. Both can handle more lift than I am going for as well as spring pressure. Original I was going to buy the steel Elgin’s but I read on racer forums they are very inconsistent with quality. Some guys say they are fine and some say complete garbage

To my understanding it is possible to run solid lifters on a hyd flat tappet cam. Just curious if anybody has any experience with this set up? The cam I have is a comp xe268h wondering if I should go with solids or hyd. And what to lash the solids at if info that route. Had a summit cam kit that had a lifter fail and take the cam out on one light run so kind of second guessing hydraulic lifters

Are you sure the lifter failed? Usually improper break in wipes the lobe not other way around
