What engines did you guys run in those old Fords. Anyone ever run the old Ford Y-blocks (292-312 cid)? are you referring to the old FE blocks?

are you referring to the old FE blocks? FE replaced the Y blocks. you're right, I had a brain fart, I run an old 360fe that came out of my first derby truck, it's all stock and this year will make 4 hard runs on it, it's went through one radiator and had another radiator wrapped around it the following year but it still runs strong, just now developing an oil leak from the passenger side head gasket

I don't know much about these but I'd say a frame swap probably isn't going to work very well. Probably have to do alot of fabrication and not even sure body would line up at all with the frame to work. That's why I think mostly they just restub the front ends. I could be totally wrong but just from the little bit I've seen of these builds don't think you can just set the body on a newstyle frame and bolt it up with little modification

Can't imagine it would work, these frames are so goofing shaped I'd imagine you would have to cut a ton of material out especially in the back, or have foot gaps between the body and frame.
Plus putting a coil spring frame where a leaf spring one was seems counter productive

Thanks for the input guys. Just running ideas through my head. Never built one but I really really want to. Just debating if they are still a good build. Todays cars are front end cars. These old beasts are best driven backwards, just not sure if they are up to todays builds.

Fronts of these are great if put together right, every car bends but still a great front end car, especially with a fix it plate.

Fix it plate or just plates in general and bumper mounting seems like it helps with these from what I've seen. Definitely a car I'd build if you could

Definitely a car I'd build if you could Bumper mounting is very important, and there's a ton of ways you can go about doing that. The fix it plate at the firewall is a big help. Are these cars perfect, no. The steering is kind of a pain, the engine crossmember is less then ideal, along with the shock mount/package tray tube deal. That being said, they are worth running, they take a little more effort to put together, and no matter what car you build, there are challenges and you learn things.
