TUCK- measure from floor to rain lip, then measure from the end of the trunk lid. mark and cut the "skeleton" of the trunk lid. use a long block over the fenders and close the lid, folding it into a 90 degree angle. mark the rain lip where the lid will close and slice it so it drops down (or cut the lid its self) press lid down- then i like to add bolts around the rain lip- then in the end it will make your car turn from red to grey ;D You can see how I pulled it under on this one. I will get some better ones too For my trunk lids instead of cutting I take a pry bar and pound a line across the lid with it flipped on it's top on the ground and fold the lid by hand after that. I'm surprised no one does it my way-mark the spot, hammer the rain lip put of the way, weld the hinges to lid(they can be weak when you bend), put the forklift fork under the lid at the bend spot, get front end loader and push her around then secure. Like you say more than one way to skin a cat good thread! Good explanation tude. . Im pretty ocd the only thing i do different is cut the corners off the very back edge of the trunk. I have had them push through the fender wells towards the tirea. I also like to tak a ratchet strap from inside the car to the bottom edge and pull it forward so the rear surface is squared up before i weld it down wedging against the floor. I think it makes it a little more of a wall when it comes up. But thats just me.

Fold Door Tops- get doors gutted out- fold inner skin down- fold outer skin down- clamp skins and begin welding. NOTE- not all cars will come out nice and neat

BumBers- Pointy in the front 74 impala in the middle 76 impala in the back To make a ford pointy- On a side note.... Made another pointy ford tonight.... This time took pics. - strip down completely and replace all the bolts- -Cut about an inch out of the middle- -Use a come a long to pull the V- -weld the skins, ( make it so it can be pulled apart still), then at 17-18 from the V point cut the front ( 16 is right at a bad spot on the bumBer as we found out on this one.) -come a long over the skin to pull it together, then weld the skins. Unbolt the skin/ skeleton and weld it all solid- The last picture we ran out of wire or it would have been done. From the time started on this one to the last picture it took about 1 hour.

Tilting/Cold Bending here is one that I tilted by the cross member. I cut halfway up on both sides let it drop. I then measured by the boxes and front frame rails to make sure it dropped the same. Then just weld up the cut. after that weld your angle iron in for your cross member.

Is it better to have the tops squared and then welded or just pinch with c clamps until they touch and then weld. If its better to square them, why?

^^^ It makes for a better easier weld, and the c clamps work much better. Otherwise the clamps just crush the door skin. At least in my expierience.
