Ive found the ass end holds up bettter if u cut the rear rail 1 inch back from very rear body mount. just top and bottom. then fold inwards and reweld the frame. u will have to drill this body mount hole again. then i mount a steel mid size gm like monte or malibu rear bumper on it. bolted to frame. makes for a great base.. also lay steel over the spare tire hole and weld shut. stiffens that corner up. u can cut the tire dip out..i usually get 12 to 15 runs outta mine. last 1 i ran 15 times. 14 were first place wins

I'm allowed 8 extra body bolts 3/4 bolts with 2in washers...this is a chain n go so where would be the best spots to put them From what I've seen, at the rear is where the body tends to want to separate, same as a station wagon. I would suggest 4 bolts in the back 4-5 feet ( 2 per side ) and spread the others towards the front, at least if it was me.

Does anyone know any tricks to make the firewall stronger? And would it be better to have a bench seat or a bucket seat?

Why do you want to make the fire wall stronger? Just because i heard it was weak. would it be better to use a bucket seat with a racing lap belt or a bench seat?

Does anyone know any tricks to make the firewall stronger? And would it be better to have a bench seat or a bucket seat? A good safety/roll cage will keep the fire wall the way it should be. Other then that I'm not sure what you mean by strengthen it. I prefer a bucket seat to a bench seat for the room to put stuff like batteries, tranny coolers, shifter, and whatever else. There are a lot of things that can be done to make the suburbans tough but there are a lot of variables as well like driving style and who you run against. If you read this thread you will get a lot of good tips but the most important in my opinion are more/bigger/better placed body mounts, a good leaf stack in the front end with extra clamps, a good cage that goes to the full extent of your rules, a good solid bumper from a car or homemade and good bumper height.

^ X's 2. The fire wall isn't really the issue on suburbans but that is where you need to pay attention to the frame. If you are running a SBC I would cut a huge hole in the fire wall because you never know where the dist. will go. Unless you can run a Dist. Protector and all the fancy bells and whistles.
And to get 5 runs out of one of these, well i've done it twice with 2 suburbans but that doesn't mean they are tanks. So, You gotta build it (I'd say "right", but I have no idea what that means lol). I've placed with them and I don't know what you will be going against, but it is all how you drive it, use the back and take out tires. I've never ran a bench seat, so I have no idea on that one.
