The passenger side motor mount ears are pretty weak with sticking out far, don't run solid mounts unless running a cradle, ran first 2.3 this past weekend and broke all 3 ears off

If you guys run 3 speed toploaders out of mustangs, fairlanes, falcons, mavericks, torinos, most I know are a 3.03 gear type. 1st is a 2.99, 2nd is 1.75, and 3rd is 1-1. Reverse is 3.17. Four speed toploaders have either a close ratio or wide ratio type pattern. Close ratio is 1st-2.32 2nd-1.69 3rd-1.29 4th-1.00. Wide ratio is 1st-2.78 2nd-1.93 3rd-1.36 4th-1.00. There's also 2 different input shafts on the 4 speed. Both are 10 spline but one is 1 1/16" and one is 1 3/8". Hope this may help some of you guys if you are getting one out of a car. I have no clue on trucks, haven't messed with them

I have no clue on trucks, haven't messed with them On the 4 speeds, do you know if the shaft width is indicative of the ratio? That I'm not sure if man, I'm wanting to say no. There is also a 28 spline output shaft and a 31 spline output shaft. I do know this an HEH-D is a 64 390 Galaxie, 1 1/16" input shaft, 28 spline output close ratio. A RUG-AV1 is a 70/71 302-351 Mustang with a 1 1/16" input shaft, 28 spline output, and wide ratio so the input shaft diameter won't determine if it's a close or wide ratio C4

So I have a question. I am getting into fed's. What parts are different internally on the fed tempo 2.3? I would love to build a nasty motor for these. Thanks

Thanks Fwd 2.3 and rwd 2.3 blocks are completly different so I would they wouldn't interchange for the most part . This tread mainly covers 2.3 rwd Lima platforms

That's what I was afraid of. I was looking at some parts today at work such as head gaskets and the fwd version is a oh version odd duck.

Ran my 2.3 last night, lost radiator in heat, ran in feature, about 5 minutes in motor got hot, was squealing and puffing, still turning Rpms, stalled and coins to get running again, pulled off 6th out of 42. Drove back to trailer and was so hot wouldn't shut off, pulled wire from coil, unhooked fuel, unhooked all positive cables and still ran for 3 minutes, I'm Not sure to be impressed or what lol, fixed vacuum leak on her this morning and fired ran up and ran like a champ, my 3rd time running one and I love them
