Anyone run a evac from the valve cover to the exhaust on there 2.3? What all does it take to set up, and does it noticeably help at all?

Carb adaptor? i cant just get a intake off a carb motor? No 8 plug head don't use the same intakes as 4 plugs. And as far as I know there is no adapter for the 8 plug intake. sc00ter, if you find a head/intake from a carb 2.3 you could just use that but i think you will have a hard time finding one. if my memory is correct rangers never had a carbed 2.3. so the alternative is getting an 80's efi head and lower intake with a carb adapter. you cant use the newer head or intake because i as far as i have found there isn't an after market adapter for them. trust me i did a lot of research and ran into all of these problems this past summer setting up my engine.

I tried it for the first time last year, and will be setting up many more headers with it in the months and years to come.

Is it as simple as hooking up a hose to the oil cap and welding a fitting or something on the header? Or do u need to buy something like what dec sells?

Don't know what they sell, but it's as simple as that, then plug off and elininate the rest.
I would do it where ever the pcv valve is on the engine, or anywhere else that is convenient and leads to the crank case.

On a 2.3 there is a crank case breather located under the intake. That might be tough to run a hose to that though. Would hooking it to a breather out the oil cap produce the same results?

Yes...anywhere that breathes into the crankcase. The result is...less mess under the hood from unburned oil in the pcv smoke...reduced fire hazard, especially on a tired engine that is getting hefty blow-by. That smoke and oil goes into & out of the exhaust, instead of seeping down onto it.

On my first one, I put the fitting into the header at a 90 degree angle...sticking straight out. In the future, I think I will angle it downward, giving any liquid oil a chance to drip back down into the crank case.

It's not gonna cure your blowby, but it will let it escape.

Make sure you run a check valve of some kind.. just like on full-sized engines guys a simple hose to the stack will pull oil out.

Besides honing cylinder walls for extra clearance what other kind of machine work should be done to help these motors run better hot??
