Reading through I saw some bad advice. The corner steam vents shouod he retained. The 4 corner setup being the best. I tap the water pump for an 1/8" barb fitting and attach the steam vents there.
I wouldn't personally install any gm camshaft out of an ls1 or other engines. Maybe the ls2 cam if it were free.
But I do like the $240 elgin cams.
I never change headbolts, and reuse MLS head gaskets

Which msd box is preferred the most? I believe the 6014 I run an old 6010 box and have no complaints. My friend has a 6014 box on a driver with 5.3 swap and it has some nice features over the older boxes. I'm curious though, once in a while i'll get a pop back through the carb in a derby and fry a map sensor. Is there any danger of messing up the newer box with a backfire and the map sensor being built into the box?

Any hype about the circle track version of the 6014 ignition?

What are people running for transmissions behind these LS motors ? Th400 4L60 or 4l80 or I should say what’s most common?

Improper flexplate spacing may be some of the failures you hear about, but that's on the installer not the trans or builder.
