I am running a Malibu that had a diesel in it. is there anything different to these (frame structure) than the gas powered ones. the springs are heavier i noticed.
also people say the backs are soft. where actually do they want to bend. the arches seem to be "flatter" than most cars. Or do you build them just like the fullsize with strategic cutting to the frame and include the ever popular praying part.

Has anyone had any luck with these cars against pacers and luminas. If so how did you build it. If not what happened.

Iv been cuting4 inches off the front and tilting them like the fullsize fords and do the backs like the fords and have been running several derbies against lumina and pacers and been doing very well l started building them like this last year and ran the last one all year bout 9 shows and got 4 on the new one ready and its still straight 2 wins one second due to blown trans and the last run lost clutch the best drive train I found is 4.3 with a 3 speed

Ran a 80' Grand Prix once, rear frame at the bottom of the humps bent into the tires. 3.8 didn't have enough power to move the car once the frame was on the tires. Front was stout, ended up 2nd to a FWD Cutlass. Would run one again but wire or chain the frame rails together and use the front more.

Our monte is going out its fifth run in few weeks. Hasn't bent much. Just in normal places for gm but plated the bends. Has ran three mini heats and then a heat and cons with fullsize. Rear still straight bc we dnt run w it with 4.88s in the nine inch. Last derby it nosed a tilted vic in two half track shots an it kept going ford didn't. If you got the right rules they are hard as hell. And theboogeyman. U got the right rules just not building it with right shocks an etc. Try welding your shocks to top of ur frame. 70s ford I beam shocks is the way to go and a dist. Protecter

Anybody use the stock bumper shocks on the 80's monte welded to a diffrent bumper? I can weld whatever on this car just wondered if anyone has a good bumper and shock combo that works. I put a 80's ford shock on the front just to see how it would work since the 80's GM full size shock won't fit the frame rail. Ford shock looks like it will sit in a little to far. I have 76 monte bumper I wanted to use.

our monte is still going that i posted on here awhile ago. ran it few weekends ago had to run with fullsize due to seven mini drivers saying that they wouldnt run nor come back next year to run if they let me even tho it pasted tech. so promotor asked me to run with fullsize. that was its 7th run. two times with fullsize and five mini car derbys which one was a derby with heats cons and feature. they can be built right. only thing is that you got to worry bout it the rearends going down. ours rolled perfect but we dont even use it. car has 250 chevy in it with 4.88 gears.
