This will now serve as a sticky in the locator.

well.... a mini spool will do the same as welding the spider gears just not as much pressure on the gears.....and if a weld breaks you are kinda screwed......doubt you will ever break the mini spool.....

oh and btw...some pintos came stock with the 8" rear....usually the 6 cylinder cars but every once in a while you will find a 4 banger with on.....my fresh '80 wagon has a 4 cylinder with a c-4 but has the 6 3/4" rear .....haven't seen that combo before....it's usually the c-3. some of the 8's can be found in the '60's mustangs as well.....they are coil rears though. 64.5-78 were leafed. First coil sprung Mustang was '79. You won't find a coil sprung Stang with an 8". It will be 6.75, 7.5 or 8.8. I don't know what rears came in 94+.

100%+....it may very well be a coil sprung 8, but it didn't come out of any 60's Stang. The '79+ Stangs are coil, but weren't available with an 8.
With any due respect, dig a little deeper on the first gen's.

i'll do that ....thanks c4....i'll talk with the mechanic and see if maybe somebody did a coil conversion on that stang or something......good to know. is 4:11 gears the lowest ratio they have for the 8's?

Stock, I believe so. Steepest aftermarket I'm aware of for the 8 is 5.43
However it's kinda hard to find steeper than 4.62.
That rear could have come from a 65-72 Fairlane.

wow....any chance of finding another set ? not real sure what to do there.....mine have always been there...maybe a hole where the battery sets but never just completely gone......my best guess would be find another set ( or something comparable) and weld them in....not much help here...sorry bud.
