I have had issues with the tie rod ends on civics so I would say some nice pipe sleeve would help out alot

1990 accord broke the control arm. Hard to tell from this muddy photo what you are looking at. I'll have to hose it off and get a better picture so you know what I am referring to. How do you prevent this?

Anybody ever run a prelude? They any good? There is an '88 being sold locally but if it is not worth its weight in scrap, I'm not gonna waste my time with it. Looking for some input from you guys. Do you think it will hold up as well the accords and civics?

Looking at them side by side, I believe they are virtually the same as a 2 door Accord.

Looking at them side by side, I believe they are virtually the same as a 2 door Accord. On the outside yes. I just scrapped my 91 Prelude Si after 2 seasons of figure 8s and 5 derbys. A little tougher than an accord imo. Rear suspension parts are completely different and alot stronger than Accords. After all of that my rear wheels were still straight. Front suspension is about the same. Alot of parts are interchangable. If you do get it and decide you want to sell or trade it pm me. I'll post my Prelude pics when I get them on the comp.

Thanks guys for the input. I will make them an offer and see where it ends up. I was pleased with the only civic I built this year - which was a stock derby. So if the prelude holds up as well, then it should be a good investment.

Well, our alternator condom failed last night. So, what is it that pops when the alt post grounds out?

Just the main fuse in the fuse box under the hood on the firewall. Replace with a wire or the best way would be to install a circut breaker.

Thanks, STROMI. We had 4 layers of inner tube rubber over it, but it peeled off, so after a 1st and a 3rd, the Honda was a one hit wonder last night. Was hoping to trash it last night, so we wouldn't have to hold onto it over the winter, but oh well.
Will check that fuse.
I don't see a belt driven water pump. Is it internal....driven by timing gears like an Escort?
If so, we could finish it off without the alternator, yes? We've already ditched the P.S. so I don't think we'd need a belt for anything, if the water pump is gear driven.

Yes, water pump is timing belt driven. Depending on how new it is they run better with an alternator. Just fix the fuse and use a doubled up floor mat or a piece of wood as an insulator. Innertube is no way thick enough.

P/S is useless on a Honda.

It's a '90 Accord, and the back of it (alternator), including whatever is mounted back there, is slightly smashed and broken. The boy took a Pacer head on & the Pacer bumper cleared his bumper.

.......OR, how difficult would it be to re-mount the alternator where the ac compressor.
And I agree with the PS opinion on MOST compacts.
