Jull - do you have any pictures of the valve cover reinforcement you were referring to? i have been looking at it and can't picture a great way to accomplish what you are talking about. I haven't build one. Just tought about it after a friend of mine ran one and the valve cover warped when engine got too hot, oil was spraying all over the engine compartment. Thankfully it didn't catch fire, but I think it was a close one. Maybe it could look like this. Sorry I have bad drawing skills on paint.

i finally got this car built. unfortunately the damn thing won't run now. ran when parked, relocated wires and installed fuel tank inside car and now it only runs on ether. i can't seem to get juice at the injectors. there is fuel going to the rail, and it will run on ether. i have swapped out the ECU and crank sensor and nothing. where is the fuel pressure regulator? the haynes manual says it is in the sending unit, but it looks like there is also one on the return line. i recall someone mentioning that this needed to be working. I am running the pump from the stock tank. any ideas on what to check. the only wires i cut were grounds and i have reconnected every one that i can find.

If I remember well the one I built didn't have a return line. The fuel pressure regulator was in the sending unit, but I mounted it directly on the fuel line, outside the tank.
Do you use the stock pump harness or the pump is wired directly to the battery? Some cars require you use the factory harness otherwise the car doesn't run.

pump is wired to a toggle direct to battery. is it possible to "fool" the car into thinking factory harness is connected? there are 5 wires that are on it. 2 for pump and others go to level sensor. there is definately a return line, but it could possibly be just for vapor? sending unit had 3 ports. 1 pressure, 1 to charcoal canister and other goes to engine compartment (assumed return)

I just finished building one for a stock show. The one I built had only one line going to the engine compartment. It's a 2003. If I remember right the first gen had a return.
Did you try plugging the pump to the factory harness?

I am having the same problem with my 2001 accent. The car will run if it is roll started, but will not fire when i turn the key. I have read online and i've heard to check the ECT, CKP, try new coil packs, and im not for sure. I just started stripping it out, and other than the gauge cluster, radio, and all interior besides the seats, i have not cut or disconnected an wiring. I also have some oil sitting in my intake?

Problem solved! I ran a diagnostic test with an OBD and it showed three codes of a bad crankshaft position sensor. So if your accent doesn't run off of cranking the ignition over but will roll start, more than likely you have a bad crank position sensor. I picked up a brand new one off of ebay for $12.95 shipped to my door. I also recommend investing in an OBD. It cost quite a bit, but will diagnose the problem with most 1996 and newer vehicles, derby car or an everyday driver.

How do you guys hard nose these cars? I was just thinking about shoving square tubing back to the firewall and putting two pieces of plate steal on each side and bolting it and maybe even weld the top of the plates to the tubing. This is my first car I've ever built and I know if I don't work on this front end it won't be worth messing with. So can I get some feed back on how to build a bumper for this thing?
