Yeah, was thinking about it. Might just have to save it for next year though. I don't have any derbies left that are less than an hour drive. Don't believe it would be worth my while to haul it to far. But I'm certainly considering it.

My wife ran a 97 mystique last night she took a hard tire hit and the steering shaft between the steering wheel and firewall bent real bad to where it hit the brake pedal and gas pedal causing her not to turn easy or to get speed. Has anyone ever had that happen and if so what did u do to make it stronger or what did u replace it with?

Depends where it is bent at, I'm pretty sure these have the joint near the bottom. If it's above the joint just cut out the bent section and weld in a new shaft . That's pretty crazy though, would you happen to have a picture of it?

You are always best cutting that section out and welding a new piece in as they will always crush there if you leave it stock

Its just a safety feature so that in a crash the steering column will compress a few inches or bend away from you

Cut the crush zone out and tube or rod in. If you have a straight one you could try welding the gaps up

Pull ur strut off an pipe it. Then make a mounting plate top an bottom an make it so it raises an lowers car. Or just pick your ride height an don't make it adjustable at all.
