So better to not weld solid but to have the bumper move when you hit ? What are your rules for bumpers, bumper shocks, etc? any auto bumper and or loaded homemade bumpers allowed no bigger than 3 inches in diameter allowed to support 1 ft back on uni body

Did they ever make a metal bumper for any Escort? Rules say I have to have factory bumper attached in its factory configuration. Both of mine were plastic, but can replace with metal version of same car. What are my options? Thanks in advance.

I think the only option would be from a first gen.(80-90') which I think is aluminum. Any chance you could get by with a focus bumper? I think they were all steel and would be way easier to get ahold of.

The later 80's were steel, and equivalent, and similar in appearance, to a steel fox body bumper. I know that the aluminum one on an 83 had an iron square shaft behind it. That one actually held up on a stock 90-93 Accord after the Escort was dead.

The 89 was definitely heftier. The 87 was also steel but much thinner. The 83 had the back support. The 81 was aluminum, but without the iron back support.

I had a 1990 escort and both front and back were plastic.

1993 wagon. Inertia switch taken care of, rear wires unplugged/moved. Plan once moving battery and running a Taurus front bumper. What are some tips on wires I need to move, and things to try and tuck away. The main fuse block I should be able to move, loop tranny lines, anything else? Not worried about the rear end I have a plan for that. More worried about sensors. Do I need to keep the MAF sensor and the sensor that’s square next to it? Anything would help. Rules being built to are a very stock/windshield class. Just a quick build to get away from weld compacts for a weekend. Thanks

If its anything like the bubble Escorts there are some grounds on the front rail(s) near the headlights that need moved.

I have a 2001 escort 4 door. Lost my rad the first run. Trying to figure out if it’s possible to fill rad hoses and just loop them. Anybody know if that will work or just a waste of time??

Without pressure relief, it is a waste. Spend the $30-35 on an inline filler neck, or look one up and make something similar. It is something you will use many times over the years.

Probably won''t make or break you either way. For a stock class I might take it off. It could make the back more predictable and still be strong enough.
