I have not done this yet, don't even know if it will work, but I plan on making a push/pull setup for mine this year. We will see how that works. You may even be able to take one of the floor shifters from another compact car and set it up for these. I could be wrong. I have read all the celebrity tips and they all say to pre-bend the trunks up, which I plan on doing. I was just looking at the car the other day and was thinking what would happen if I set the back end of the car down? I know these cars tend to go down if you do not notch and pre-bend, but I figure if I give it a good notch and pre-bend it well enough that this might help it pack in as well as give even better front end height without making the cv shafts have a bad angle? Again I do not know if this will work. It was just a thought. If anyone has done this or could enlighten me I would appreciate it.

Finished up the shifter. I flipped the shifting linkage on the transmission. I used a rod from the front of a caprice in front of the radiator, since it already had a good hole to bolt to the linkage. I double nutted the rod to the linkage to make sure it does not come off. Here's a pick. The rod is a little short, but a little welding will fix that. It has worked so far. Let me know what you think.

It's a good start, or even a good finished quickie. Thanks for sharing.
A handle & park lock out & you'll be golden.

The high mounted rear bumper trick works great on these cars

I mounted the rear bumper upside down and used the bottom bolts in the top holes in the car. The stock bumper plates help hold the bumper to the rails. This was after a second place finish in a hard 22 car main event team derby. The rear packed in and went up as pretty as it could have without notching or prebending.

^^^^^^^^And when rules call for bumper to be in stock location, or be removed?? In your opinion, which of those 2 options is the lesser of evils?

Removing the rear bumper is always the safest and most predictable route. I recommend it to newbees, however if done properly mounting the bumper to the top of the rails makes the rear much stronger. IMO

Quick question about the front. I ran my cutlass in July. I only made one hit with the front and maybe two with the back. My fuel pump broke. With that one hit in the front, my brackets from the bumper bent the frame where I bolted and welded my bumper. My question is how should I go about fixing this? Should I cut the bumper off, trim the frame down then weld it back on or is there any other suggestions? Let me know, I am kind of lost with this any suggestions would be appreciated . I am probably going to use your rear bumper trick STROMI that thing packed in nice. Would you think lifting the bumper up like that and wedging it would that make roll any better or would that just push it down?

You will have to experiment and see what works best for you. I mount the bumper high with plates securing it well to the frame, tuck the trunk, and notch or prebend the frame a little. JMO

Also, I fold the bottom of the 1/4s up to help keep them out of the tires.

I just picked up a 96 Century wagon. Should I run a rear bumper on it or take it off?

Wagons are a completely different animal that love to plow. Id prebend the 1/4s, roof, frame, and no bumper....JMO
