how are the ol' 70s thunderchicken front bumpers? worked fine for me, ran one from a 1973 and ran it hard through about 5-6 derbies and hardly ever using the rear end and still walked away with a decent bumper when i scrapped the car

As i read down threw the post being the ford lover i am," i am sadden" i have never broken any bumper that i have ran. Have broken other bumpers but never my own! I have made a suicide look like a beat up impala with a 85' Lincoln. don't believe me ask the guy driving the suicide. Ford has always had the strong cars. Hint's all the vic's and lincoln's running today! Ford tough with chevy stuff what a joke!! Where do you think all the Dp's and cadles come from guys putting sbc in fords and they could not keep the front ends down. Are front ends have never came up period! even without tilting. Build smarter not harder! For inspiration here you go!! www.youtube.com/watch?v=-0hPOV_GYj0 Kill them all! ......................................................................................................................WHAT?

just picked up a 73 Mercury Montego bumper... looks just like a 74 with the good backing and gussets inside..... are they the same as a 74? and how are they as a seam welded bumper.... how would it hold on a cold bent Ford or a Shocker mopar?

That of course if it is like the newer ones

Just picked up some steel bumpers off an 87 Lincoln. They look the same as the Ford Crown vic bumpers. Are they the same strength?

How good is a 78 Ranchero bumper? No holes in it and it's got a point in the middle. Would be decent on a 96 Lincoln in a Limited Weld show with Mopar shocks along the frame? Basically hardnosed.

What is the best 80's bumpers to run? Building a couple of 89 Vics for a stock class and we can only run 80's style bumpers...

Nope, because it would create downward leverage.
