To make things simple: It ALL matters!! What bumper you use, plus HOW you mount it, plus ride height, plus how you set up your frame(shorten it, seamweld it, crease it, whatever y'all can do to your frames). All these factors play an EQUAL part in the success of your car.

Are the 77 thunderbird stock bummpers any good?

When fully seamwelded, they are very respectable bumpers. Make sure to put a 6"x6" 1/2" thick plate between the bumper and frame when hardnosing the bumper. This keeps the frame horns from collapsing into the backing of the bumper.

^^ the same as leafing anything else in the world....
and no i dont have a picture, i run sbf i never have mounting problems in anything. but to make any engine fit in any car with the steering behind the crossmember is lift the engine higher or use a front sump oil pan and since gm never made one you will have to ( i have done it before take a spare pan and cut the pan section away from the bolt section spin the pan around and weld it back on backwards then fab up a new oil pickup) done front sump gm will fit in any old ford or chrysler no problems

I'm allowed an extra body mount on each frame rail where do you think I would get most benefit? The build rules are limited welding A arms forward, door seams, DP allowed.
