Before I ask my question let me preface that I have to use the stock lower mounts per rules. I have never used the stock Ford lowers before, always used Chevy lowers welded in (can't weld mounts) or aftermarket (can't use aftermarket). I'm putting my sbc 350 in a 91 box vic. I am allowed to use my engine cradle. I know the lowers fit inside the cradle. What I don't know is about alignment. I've heard one side is slightly off forward or backward for chevy uppers to fit properly. Secondly, should I run the stock ford crossmember or a chevy one as I can't weld it either and must bolt it in within 2" of the original location. Thanks. I'm treading in unfamiliar waters here. Lol You will have to beat the mounts out toward the fenders but other than that I never had any other issues if you run a 350 trans the cross member will be close a 400 will need the cross member moved

Ok I got a question... if you are using a chevy engine and drivetrain in a 80's crown vic how are you guys adapting the chevy powersteering to the ford gear box? or any other way of making the car have power steering with the GM pump ?

I take a chevy pressure hose and weld the ford pressure end on. Or you can go have one made like everything else in this sport is now.

Just cut each line in the steel tube and use a 3/8 compression fitting.

cut them at the steel lines and run 3500 psi hydraulic hoses with double clamps on both ends...heat it up a bit as u clamp it...works great!

On all 79 and newer Vics that I have seen, there is a hole to access the lowest bolt on each mount where the control arm mounts inside the engine crossmember. You can get it with a 13mm? universal socket, or if you are blessed with an especially clean car, a wrench. Torch is probably easiest.

Try tightening them with a good impact wrench until the bolts snap. By far the easiest way when it works.
