Puts the mounts on the motor and drop the motor in place and start welding. its that easy too. buy chevy lower motor mounts at auto zone (18 bucks) bolt to the stock clamshells, drop motor in ford and start welding.

Yeah I learned that too but he said CHEAP now I just use C-Channel with clam shell mounts and weld them in. They hold good as any thing.

well who sells good cradles for cheap? ;D i also got a tip from a friend that you can just get sbc mounts and weld them onto the ford cradle and that would work good to..but i dont think i wanna take that road beings im not a good welder. if you are not good at welding now,,,build, build, build you will be good after about 15 cars...lol a cradle is a must if you have an engine that has some time and money in it,,you break a couple ears off, and that 150 bucks doesnt sound like a bad idea now A cradle is NOT A MUST! Solid mounts BREAK ears becasue they don't flex and factor mounts don't break ears off becasue they DO flex. It's only when guys use kickers to the distributor protector and such trying to use the motor to hold the front of the car down that ears get broken off and only then with solid mounts. The man said he didn't want to buy a cradle and his question was "is there a cheaper easier way to put a Chevy in a ford". There certainly is a very easy "FREE" way that will NEVER break your block. Simply cut the ford block mounts off the ford crossmember, bolt those block mounts to your Chevy block mounts (they fit perfect), set the motor in where you want it, weld the ford frame mounts down to the crossmember, done! You will find the frame mounts are almost right where they were from the factory. There is no reason to buy anything and as I said you will never break anything becasue they flex just as they were designed to do. In 37 yrs at this I've never broken an ear off a block and never will.

I use the stock Chevy lowers, bolt on to motor, drop motor in weld tack them in pull motor. then weld motor mounts....I do use the stock cross member so I bolt to cross member before welding mounts in... and for the part that sticks up I use a piece of angle welded to frame to help give more stability....

I just weld my stock lower (80s style) mounts to the frame. Piece of cake... If you run a th-350 transmission the stock crossmember/angle will work without modifications. If you use a th-400 you will need to weld a piece of angle iron starting about two inchs back from the orginal cross member location. Other than that you literally just weld it in. There is no steering, frame, or transmission tunnel issues. Hopefully this helps. Nate.
